Experience

We will cover off some basic bush safety and then begin our journey down to Karloo Pool where we can enjoy the sun, a morning tea and perhaps a swim in the beautiful pool. We will then take the Uloola track enjoying amazing views of the Royal National Park from high up and views back to the city before reaching the beautiful Uloola falls and hidden Blue Pools. Here we will stop for lunch and our next swim before taking the fire trail back to Waterfall station and returning to Heathcote station by train. A moderate level of fitness is required for this walk as does involve some steep descents, uneven surfaces and rock hopping. The distance is 11km and will take a full day to complete.

What you need

Bring a healthy snack for a morning tea stop and a light lunch to have by the pool. Plenty of water, about 1 litre, we will be stopping regularly for a drink as required. It’s best to bring a backpack rather than carry bag or shoulder bag so your hands are always free to improve safety from falling. You are responsible for your own health and well-being so ensure you bring adequate medications as required i.e. asthma spray. Make sure you advise the leader of any medical conditions which may come on quickly or limit your capability. Don't forget to bring your camera, the bush is beautiful along the way! ● I'd suggest wear long pants/tights to avoid minor cuts from stinging nettle, grasses and climbing over any rocks. ● Don’t wear good sneakers or good clothes, you may get wet or muddy ● Pack your swimmers and a towel if you dare and goggles to see the amazing underwater reflections ● Depending on weather, precautions against leeches is advisable, long clothes, carry salt and insect repellent ● It is an open trail in sections, wind and sun protection is advisable. ● Footwear should be sturdy, closed in shoes, and something you don’t mind potentially getting wet or muddy. ● Bring a foldable rain jacket or Poncho if you have one just in case of rain
