Connect with the Australian Bush in the Watagan Mountains
Join me in the Watagan Mountains, part of the Great Dividing Range (located on the western side of Lake Macquarie). The park is of great importance to the Awabakal and Darkinjung People, and rare insights into art and engraving techniques have been found at over 40 recorded locations in the Watagan Range and surrounding lands. We'll hopefully see glimpses of these during our walks. I'll be picking you up from your preferred location, a quick shop for provisions then we'll head to the mountains via Freeman's Waterholes. Next we'll be on a dirt road driving through a lush forest, you'll see the lake, ocean and surrounding towns from lookouts. At Boarding House Dam we can take a 20 minute bush walk through a scenic gully rainforest. The trees and rocks are covered with moss making it look like a fairy glen. You'll walk alongside a 110m moss covered rock wall and learn why it is called Boarding House Dam.
